The COVID-19 pandemic saw the competition move away from the home-away format, meaning CSK haven't played at their home venue since 2019. With CSK returning to their home ground in 2023, Dhoni is leaving no stone unturned and making sure that he has all the bases covered.

CSK will begin their campaign against defending champions Gujarat Titans in the first match of the tournament on March 31 in Ahmedabad. CSK's first home match will be against Lucknow Super Giants on 3rd April. The 2023 IPL final will be held on May 28, with the league stage ending on May 21.
David Warner will lead Delhi Capitals in the absence of regular skipper Rishabh Pant, with India all-rounder Akshar Patel named as Warner's vice-captain.
DC has also brought back Sourav Ganguly as the Director of Cricket this time. The former Indian captain served as the mentor of the team in 2019.
