Goldberg was the biggest name in WCW until 1998 when he was sold to WWE. He went undefeated in one-on-one battles in WCW from 1997 to 1998. When Vince McMahon found WCW, Goldberg was on the sidelines for a few years. It is also said that McMahon brought Goldberg to WWE specifically for his special feud with Triple H, another rising wrestler in the company.
Goldberg and Triple H went on to feud at several pay-per-views, from Unforgiven to Survivor Series and Elimination Chamber. McMahon wanted to make the most of Goldberg and Triple H's in-ring rivalry.
